Historical Significance

The Westland Puma HC.1 entered service with No.33 Squadron of the Royal Air Force in 1971, fulfilling a critical medium support helicopter role. As the first Anglo-French aircraft collaboration of its kind, the Puma combined exceptional speed, agility, and versatility. Capable of transporting 16 passengers, 12 fully equipped troops, or up to two tonnes of cargo, either internally or via underslung loads, the Puma remains a mainstay of the RAF more than five decades later.
